The local type of Sangiovese is called Sagioveto dal Cannello Piccolo Predappio, which North Berkeley Imports describes as having "...a luminous, suave and spiced character, redolent of cherry blossom and smoky incense." It mixes juicy and savory as Sangiovese can do so well, but is distinct in its purple and black tones of earthy fruit. A lightly grainy texture throughout provides a gently drying grip on the finish, and the acidity is elegantly tucked in, providing an inner vibrancy. This bottling is Chiara's everday red, ideal with saucy pizzas and stuffed pastas.
Fermented and aged in a mix of stainless steel and Slavonian oak casks. Destemmed but not crushed (whole berries).
