The process starts with monks grinding the ingredients at the Grande Chartreuse monastery, followed by distillation to capture the aromas, and maceration to extract the active ingredients and natural color. The liqueur is then aged in oak casks before bottling. This example was bottled at Chartreuse`s Tarragona distillery in Catalonia, which operated from 1903 to 1989.
