History,
On May 2, 2007, St. Lucia Distillers was struck by a major fire; most of the distillery was spared but much of their storage space for aging casks was lost. In the melee that followed, the cellar master was forced to find space for aging casks in unusual places. Some were subsequently forgotten about, only to be rediscovered much later and offered as a limited release. While those original barrels have long since been bottled, the blend was so delicious that it’s been honored and replicated by aging Chairman’s Reserve Original an additional 3 years in ex-bourbon casks after blending.
Tasting Notes,
Nose: A wonderfully intense nose of sweet raisins and sultanas with tobacco and vanilla.
Palate: Honeyed palate of fruit and spice yielding a delightfully complex rum 40% ABV
