Made from one of the local grapes of the volcanic island of Ischia, this Biancolella has an initially lush character of acacia, ripe nectarine, peach, baking spice and a creamy edge that is deliciously entwined with the rich almond flavor; then the mouthwatering veins of inner mineral acidity take more control, creating a refreshing, moderately light-weight feeling into the finish. This is a classic expression of Mediterranean white wine magic: complex and rich, but still light and refreshing. This is a great wine for hazlenut- or almond-encrusted fish, crabcakes and apricot-glazed salmon. Delicious.

Ischia is a volcanic island, and the whites do show the characteristic 'struck flint' character of volcanic terroirs. Cenatiempo's production is about half from his own grapes, which are biodynamically farmed, the rest coming from other growers around the island.
