ORGANICALLY FARMED
La Leccia lies in the middle of Castellina's descending cascade of hills, making generous, warm-toned - but not roasted - wines with matching structure of fine, dusty tannins and innner, glowing freshness. This riserva is made with riper grapes for a more powerful, fuller-bodied wine than their popular "everyday" Chianti Classico, and is distinguished by the fact that they don't oak it more, choosing to finish in neutral concrete. This keeps the purity of the grapes more intact than many other riservas, making it more of a "wine of place." As a result you find a balance of savory and fruity, with juicy dark red fruits (Amarena cherry, plum) and dusty, sunbaked earthiness, violet and tobacco, all well-meshed so that you can either enjoy it now (with a half hour or so in the decanter) or age several more years. Pair this one with red meat braises and roasts (wild boar, beef, venison).
"The 2021 Chianti Classico Riserva is a bold, juicy wine. Succulent dark cherry, plum, new leather, licorice and dark spice are front and center. This approachable, tasty Riserva offers plenty of charm. Even though it was bottled just two months before this tasting, the Riserva is quite expressive. The 2021 spent 10 months in cask followed by a year in cement. This is the finest wine I have tasted from La Leccia. " - Antonio Galloni, VINOUS MEDIA
