Camigliano makes traditionally styled Brunellos in the more Mediterranean-influenced southwest of Montalcino. This tends to comes off as darker fruit tones mingling with the typical juicy, macerated sour cherry of Sangiovese, along with warm tones of rich, toasted nuts, sunbaked earth, and spices. In a great year like 2019, the tannic structure gives earthy-mineral sensations to the fruit, and gently tightens up the finish with a fine grip. Give this an hour or two in the decanter and partner with some savory, moderately rich dishes like braised wild boar or an herby, tomatoey beef stew!

KERIN O'KEEFE 93 POINTS - "Aromas recalling fragrant blue flower and baking spice mingle with scorched earth and toasted hazelnut on the Camigliano 2019 Brunello. Made with organically farmed grapes, the lithe palate is elegant and savory, offering juicy Morello cherry, blackberry, cinnamon and nutmeg accompanied by polished tannins. Fresh acidity keeps it balanced. This is the best straight Brunello I ever had from the estate. Drink 2026–2034."

WINE SPECTATOR 93 POINTS - "The fruit is on the darker side for the vintage, evoking black cherry, blackberry and dark plum flavors, while earth and wild herb accents add detail. Tightly knit tannins quickly intervene, leaving a compact, powdery feel on the finish. Best from 2027 through 2043."
