History,
A special edition bottling from the famous Irish distillery, Bushmills.
This dram honours the distillery’s 400th anniversary, and was originally produced in 2008.
The bottling contains a blend of Irish malt whiskies (including some that uses malt that has been lightly toasted to give a crystalline appearance) which have been aged in a mixture of American oak and Sherry casks. A small amount of grain whiskey is also present.
Tasting Notes,
Nose: Lots of malt, leather, dark chocolate followed by peach and apricot. Honey becomes evident. Walnuts, fudge, almonds and a slight floral note creeps in at the end.
Palate: Feels quite full bodied in the mouth, probably helped by the extra abv. Typical Bushmills fruit notes on arrival, peaches, apricots, ripe bananas, vanilla which then meld with marzipan, raisins, dark demerara sugar, malt, coffee and walnut cake. A medium finish that remains fruity but with treacle and butterscotch.
