ORGANICALLY FARMED
This is a mix of Brezza's sites from the southwestern part of Barolo where clay and limestone soils dominate, forming a drinkable style of traditional Barolo, with nuance and elegance. The 2019 growing season was long, making a fantastic, elegant and nuanced Barolo to enjoy while it still has its deliciously vibrant & fragrant red-toned fruit. Decant for an hour or so if drinking soon, or hold for a couple more years.
KERIN O'KEEFE 93 POINTS - "Aromas of dog rose, camphor and spice shape the nose on this luminous, fragrant red. Tangy and savory, the straightforward palate offers juicy red cherry, blood orange, cranberry, star anise and wild herb alongside taut tannins and bright acidity. While this will offer years of pleasure, it’s the most immediate of the firm’s Barolo lineup and will be hitting the start of its ideal drinking window in the next few years. It’s made with organic fruit hailing from the townships of Barolo, Monforte d’Alba, and Novello. Drink 2025–2034. Abv: 14.5% Kerin O’Keefe April 2023"
"The 2019 Barolo is a gorgeous entry-level offering from Brezza. In fact, it's one of the best editions of this wine I can remember tasting. Bright, translucent and full of character, the straight Barolo is all charm. Crushed red berry fruit, orange peel, sage, mint and sweet spice all lend notable complexity throughout. Vineyard sites are San Lorenzo, Fossati, Ravera (Novello) and Bricco San Pietro. Fruit is harvested and vinified separately, then the lots are blended before malolactic fermentation. " - ANTONIO GALLONI, VINOUS MEDIA
The historical Brezza family winery goes back to 1885, and to 1910 with their first branded bottling. Based around the town of Barolo itself, their wines are traditional expressions of the area's elegantly-styled Barolos. Aging is in classic large (3000L), untoasted Slavonian oak barrels. The Barolos are neither filtered nor fined.
