When it rains, it pours... and the high scores are pouring in for the wines of Brewer-Clifton! For 30 years, winemaker Greg Brewer has been honing his skill of crafting impeccable wines from Santa Barbara County, with a specific focus on the Sta. Rita Hills sub-AVA. In fact, Greg Brewer helped to map and define the Sta. Rita Hills area in 1997, which helped its official approval in 2001. In addition, Greg has been previously named Winemaker of the Year by Wine Enthusiast.

Brewer-Clifton is now using 100% Estate Grown grapes, and they do not purchase grapes from other owners. This ensures that every attention to detail can be covered, and only the highest quality grapes enter through the winery doors, and they use sustainable and/or organic farming methods whenever possible.

Brewer-Clifton's 3D Chardonnay is comprised of five different clones such as 4, 76, Hyde, Mount Eden, and Wente. With these grapes and the location of the vineyard, it helps promote citrus all around with the aromas being Meyer Lemon and Tangerine skin. The flavor profile displays Sea Salt and baked citrus which gives a salinity texture that makes the mouth salivate for more.

Today's Pinot Noir offering is a blend of their 3D, Machado and Hapgood vineyards; 3 vineyards that helped to produce single-vineyard wine with scores as high as 99 points! The vineyards are planted on a mix of sand and clay. This may decrease vigor and yields, but it intensifies the aromatics and flavors; the vineyards have been planted to a mix of several different clones, which aids in complexity. The wine is aged in neutral oak barrels, so while you will get a hint of oak, the purity of the fruit is what shines.

All these different aspects are what embodies the true trademark style that Brewer-Clifton strives for. With the dedication and experience of Greg Brewer, it's a no brainer on why their wines are astounding and get the scores they do. Just how Jeb Dunnuck gave the "3D" Chardonnay a 97-point score saying "Don't miss this beauty" and the Pinot Noir a 94-Point score and called it "a terrific value in top-notch Pinot Noir..."!

JEB DUNNUCK 94 POINTS - "Leading off the reds, the 2022 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills is incredibly expressive and open, with a great nose of spiced red fruits, iodine, spring flowers, rose, and baking spices. This carries to a medium to full-bodied Pinot Noir with a round, layered, elegant mouthfeel, rock-solid acidity, and a great finish. As always, it’s a terrific value in top-notch Pinot Noir and will have 10-15 years of longevity."

WINE SPECTATOR 93 POINTS - "This is generous in feel, with a plump edge to its cherry and damson plum fruit compote notes, offering hints of tobacco, warm earth and singed herbs that stay in the background. The light-handed toast lets everything knit easily through the finish. Drink now through 2033."
