WINE ADVOCATE 93 POINTS - "The 2021 Volnay 1er Cru Carelle sous la Chapelle offers up aromas of smoke berries, plums, licorice and blood orange, followed by a medium to full-bodied, concentrated palate with a textural attack that segues into a mid-palate framed by powdery tannins that assert themselves on the taut, chalky finish. This terroir is characterized by rich but shallow red clays that give way to big chunks of fractured limestone, and perhaps that's why it always seems to deliver wines with a front-loaded attack but a structured finish."
