This is a sweet red vermouth made by Bordiga, the historic producer in the Piedmontese Alps since 1888. Bordiga makes all their own infusions, and many of the wild plants used are picked by hand in the nearby Alps.
This vermouth is Bordiga's 'Riserva,' made from 35% Barolo wine (aged for 36 months), blended with local Cortese and Moscato wine. Over 30 individually infused and/or distilled botanicals, sugar, and water are added in. The finished blend is then aged in oak for several months before bottling.
Like Bordiga's Rosso Vermouth, but with the intensity turned up. Complex, weighty, and slightly tannic, with notes of dried cherry and spices. Drink it on the rocks as an aperitivo, or use it to make the ultimate Negroni or Manhattan.
