Tarragona was initially named Mi Montsant after the beautiful region in northern Spain that served as its inspiration. However, it was later changed to Tarragona, a nearby city that Edgar visited at the start of his journey in this stunning country. The region, which forms a 'C' shape surrounding the prestigious Priorat region, has a rich history of wine-making, dating back to the Roman period. Over the centuries, Catholic monks continued the viticultural tradition during the Middle Ages.

The Tarragona 2021 is a wine that's full of surprises. From the first pour, the aroma of hibiscus tea, caramel, strawberries, and black cherry is evident. After airing, the wine opens up even further, revealing exotic hints of patchouli, orange peel, and cloves. With its firm acidity and rustic tannin profile, it's an old-world-style wine that's sure to impress any wine lover. A blend of 71% Garnacha, 18% Tempranillo, 10% Carignan, and 1% Graciano, the Garnacha component provides a refreshing touch, while the Tempranillo and Carignan offer structure and savory spice notes that add depth to the palate. A splash of Graciano was co-fermented with a barrel of Garnacha to maintain the acidity and vibrant color of this exceptional wine.

ROBERT PARKER'S WINE ADVOCATE 94 POINTS - "The 2021 Tarragona is a blend of 71% Garnacha, 18% Tempranillo, 10% Carignan and 1% Graciano from the Paper Street Vineyard. It was vinified with 30% whole clusters and matured for 22 months in 35% new French oak. It has slowly unfurling scents of briary fruit, cured meats, iron, coffee beans and latent floral and amaro undertones. The medium-bodied palate has a concentrated core of tri-colored fruit reminiscent of wild berry candy. It has bright, juicy acidity and powdery tannins, and although it's easy to drink, it doesn't sacrifice complexity."
