This is the Estate's true "second label," whose cuvée mirrors that of the "grand vin," the Bertinga: Sangiovese and Merlot. The Sangiovese ferments and matures in concrete tanks for 12 to 18 months; the Merlot ferments and matures in stainless-steel vats, depending on the vintage it can also mature in used barriques. The two varieties are then blended and bottle-aged for 18 months before release. Sassi Chiusi combines the approachability and freshness of a Chianti Classico with the depth and the aging capacity of the best Super Tuscans. 2200 cases.
