The Balvenie 25 Years Old Single Barrel #517 was distilled in 1990, where it was crafted with the hands-on expertise that only comes from years of experience. Every part of the process happens onsite, using traditional methods that stretch back to the earliest days of whisky making. The barley is grown onsite, malting is done on a traditional malting floor and distillation takes place in a copper still. The resident coppersmith keeps his eye on the still and the cooperage maintains the barrels for maturation. The master distiller then selects only the best barrels that display the characteristic Balvenie rich spice and sweet honey flavour. The results speak for themselves in this barrel that was bottled on 26th November 2015, after aging for 25 years in refill American oak.
