We were one of the first stores to get behind Ricardo Gamarra and his AsomBroso fine Tequilas and we've been big fans ever since. From their award-winning El Platino (voted Top Tequila at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and the foundation of their entire line), to the La Rosa Reposado (the first Pink Tequila, rested in Bordeaux wine barrels) and their 5-year-old Añejo Gran Reserva (aged 5 years in new French oak) and voted "Best of the Best" by the Robb Report, they certainly have proved their desire and wherewithal to create world-class Tequilas.
We are today focused on one of AsomBroso's fantastic 11-year-old Añejos, the newest expression called 'The Collaboration,' aged in Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon barrels. About the 11-year-olds, Ricardo says: "...the oldest Añejo of its time, this launched Extra-Aged Añejos into a new category, Ultra-Premium Añejo. Aged 11 years in French oak barrels, this varietal has been described as the "Nectar of the Gods."
Being aged in Silver Oak barrels, Gamarra explains, 'The Collaboration' "...acquires a reddish-brown spectral that reflects that of the Cabernet Sauvignon rested before it. The texture is smooth and silky while the aroma inhibits a semi-sweet, yet oaky persona." 'The Collaboration' is housed in an astounding Crystal Decanter made in Murano Italy. Each decanter is hand made with a Millifiori design (Million Flowers) embedded in the Crystal. Each varietal of the 750ml decanters comes with a stopper set around the neck of the decanter in a handmade plush velvet pouch.
