Made from Argiano's oldest vineyard and made only in top vintages, this is their magnum opus! Since new owners took over in 2013, the wine is better than ever, with fermentations only in concrete vessels and aging one year in 1200L oval-shaped French oak casks and a second year in the more traditional Slavonian oak vats. The marly soils and warmer, drier climate around their home in Sant'Angelo in Colle (in the south of the Montalcino zone) provides the ingredients for a powerful style of Sangiovese. They take full advantage of this by gently extracting layers of flavors and textures that take time to unravel, with a bit of polish and woodsy spice from the oak aging.
