History,
When Lincoln Henderson came out of retirement to create Angel's Envy, it was to collaborate with his son, Wes, on a bourbon finished in Port barrels. He'd had the idea for years, but had never had the chance to explore it previously. It was just as important to Lincoln to be creating a new type of whiskey as it was to be building something with his family. Wes's son Kyle eventually joined his family to help with the fledgling brand, and to learn side by side with his grandfather. Rooted in 200 years of bourbon heritage, they create hand-finished spirits that aren't afraid to improve on the classic tradition. Inspired by legendary Master Distiller Lincoln Henderson's lifetime spent crafting fine spirits, Angel's Envy is their masterpiece. The 5% of spirit lost each year during barrel aging is called the "Angel's Share." After tasting the finished whiskey, Lincoln joked that they'd finally gotten a better deal than the angels. And so Angel's Envy was born.
The Hi-Time store pick is a beautiful rendition of Angel's Envy that will welcome newcomers to the brand and thrill those already in the know.
Tasting Notes,
Nose: The nose is loaded with sweet and savory Bourbon characteristics: brown spices, orchard fruit, brown sugar, toffee, wood and hay. There is some heat on the nose but it's quickly brought into the fold by the character of the whiskey and soon blends harmoniously.
Palate: Tasting the dram showcases Kentucky Bourbon-- it's such a lovely whiskey. The palate reiterates the nose with plenty of brown spices and sweet notes, touches of orchard fruits, clover honey and vanilla
Finish: caramel corn, stewed plums and more hay, all atop cinnamon and toffee notes. Great length on the finish and just a lovely Bourbon.
