It's immediately enthralling with its generous textures of fruit and softly grainy tannin, and its concentrated, savory-tinged fruit; but there are nuanced depths to the wine that come forward with time in the glass (or age in the bottle). Its overall character is of expressive balsamic top notes and a core of Italian herb-tinged plummy fruit, mouthwatering bambly blackberry and tangy cherry; it's all enrobed in a dark-earth minerality (that can lead to notes of fragrant tar with age).
