The 2017 Agrapart & Fils Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru l'Avizoise is a distinguished Champagne blend hailing from France’s renowned Champagne region. This vintage, produced by Agrapart & Fils, is composed entirely of Chardonnay grapes sourced from the estate's oldest Grand Cru parcels, Les Robarts and La Voie D’Épernay, with vines over 50 years old. This particular bottling underwent 100% barrel fermentation in older demi-muid barrels, followed by aging on fine lees for five to six years. It was disgorged 60 days prior to release without dosage, resulting in a pure and unaltered expression of the terroir. The wine has received high praise from several esteemed reviewers. Sarah Mayo from The Wine Independent awarded it a score of 94, noting its "layers of crisp yellow apple, white peach, verbena blossoms and hints of crushed oyster shell." She also highlighted its "soft, pinpoint mousse and waves of vibrant, mineral acidity that add verve to the finish." Antonio Galloni of Vinous also rated this Champagne 94 points, emphasizing its "real breadth and resonance in the naturally softer style of the year." He described it as "impeccably balanced," with flavors of "dried pear, lemon peel, chamomile, white flowers, sage and dried herbs." Galloni pointed out that, although the 2017 vintage is lighter in volume compared to other significant vintages, it maintains excellent balance and finesse. William Kelley from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate echoed these sentiments, giving the wine another 94-point score. He praised its "attractive aromas of citrus oil, grilled peaches, hazelnuts, and freshly baked bread." Kelley described the wine as "broad and vinous," with a "textural core of fruit animated by a pretty pinpoint mousse," and declared it a "highpoint of the range this year." Overall, the 2017 Agrapart & Fils Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru l'Avizoise is a well-regarded and expertly crafted Champagne, celebrated for its aromatic complexity, balanced palate, and vibrant finish.
